How to Change Your Time Zone in cPanel

The phrase "time zone" refers to a geographical area that follows a set of rules for social, commercial, and legal purposes. Because it is more practical for locations that often communicate to preserve the same time, time zones typically follow borders between countries and their subdivisions rather than strictly following longitude.

If the wrong time is being displayed in your server's applications, scripts, or services, you can fix the problem by changing the time zone. We'll show you how to change your time zone in cPanel in this tutorial. This isn't always the case with all programs, though.

By default, apps use the host server's time zone. If you are in a different time zone, you can alter this setting. The specific procedures to do this can differ depending on the application you're using. We'll go over how to do it with cPanel today. After you've changed the time zone settings, the interface will display all of the timestamps in the new time zone.

The time zones are one of the most widely utilized PHP scripts' options. For example, in the General menu of the Settings, WordPress contains a dropdown list.

date.timezone -is a PHP setting that controls the script time zone of your PHP. Keep in mind that you can't adjust the server time because all servers, without exception, run on UTC. This helps to avoid Daylight Savings Time issues and allows servers in various time zones to communicate with one another. The individual cPanel time zone, on the other hand, is something you can modify.

This can be done by going to cPanel and choosing the Select PHP version option.

Select PHP version

When you select the Switch to PHP Options tab, all of the php.ini values, including the time zone field, will be displayed.

PHP Options

You'll find data.timezone here, and you'll need to enter in the value that best fits your needs. If you're not sure what time zone your country is in, use the link below to find out.

After you've done that, click anywhere on the left side of the text entry or dropdown box. You'll notice a green box with a message saying that the adjustment you made has been applied, and that's how you'll know it was effective.

You can synchronize your server with your network's time server, as determined by your hosting provider. This is especially beneficial if your server's time is inaccurate. To synchronize your server's time with the rest of the world, You'll find data.timezone here, and you'll need to type in the value that you need. If you're unsure about your country's time zone, use the link below to find out. You must click on Sync Time with Time Server to synchronize your server's time with the network time server.

After you've set your preferred time zone, cPanel will update PHP in a few moments. That's all there is to it! You now know how to change the time zone in cPanel and can use it right away!
